Carn na Caim & A'Bhuidheanach Bheag, map 42
1st Nov 2003 & 21st Jul 2008

Route 1: 1020m = 3350' ascent; approx 13.9 miles; 6¾ hrs
Route 2: 935m = 3065' ascent; 12.2 miles; 6 hrs

Route 1 (1/11/03): The main disadvantage of this circular route is that you traverse the whole ridge once in each direction. Route 2 below is a single traverse, with different end points.
It is very hard work crossing the bogland between A'Bhuidheanach Bheag & Glas Mheall Mor. There is a ridge track (not on the map) from beyond Carn na Caim to A'Bhuidheanach Bheag but it does not follow where one necessarily wishes to go. Fence posts follow the boundary marked on the map, and are very helpful for navigation.
Note that Carn na Caim now has a (new) Munro top at NN664806, measured as 914.6m in July, 2015.
Access: Park on A9 about ½ mile S of Dalwhinnie at the quarry road on the southbound carriageway (NN640822) or in layby 87 on the northbound carriageway.

Route 2 (21/7/08): This route has different start and finish points, both on the A9, but is a little shorter with marginally less ascent than the circular route described above in Route 1. The difference is less than expected, and probably outweighs the inconvenience of having different end points.
